When repression falls heavy on any society, from ancient Greece to Nazi-occupied France to any modern time and place, there are those who rise up to fight back. Antigone stands for the resistance, the sacrifice of life for justice, of happiness for peace, of comfort for truth. Pushing away her sister Ismene, her fiance Haemon, and her uncle, the king, Creon, Antigone must stand alone to do what she knows is right.
