The Singing Revolution: Choral Songs from the Baltics

Saturday Nov 26th
7:30 PM PWYC

The Singing Revolution

The Mägi Ensemble, a women’s chamber vocal ensemble that sings music from the Baltic countries of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, present an evening of choral music. The Baltic region used song to stand up against the Soviet regime during the Cold War and this performance will showcase some of those pieces as well as newer compositions.

With the result of this past election, the security of the Baltic States is now less stable because of Trump’s tepid relationship with NATO and his dubious relationship with Putin. We would like to share these songs from a region that may be facing some challenging times of aggression and oppression in the future.

The Mägi Ensemble:
Heather MacLaughlin Garbes
